Gou Di ah, Gou Di (aka “Dog Brother” in Chinese)…

That was the nickname of the 56-year-old who died at a kopitiam at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 on Sunday.

Dog Bro was a regular at the kopitiam and known by other regulars there.

That day, he told one his friends, another one of the kopitiam regulars, that he had just taken medicine and was feeling sleepy and needed a nap.

He then rested his head on the table.

At about 4pm, one of Dog Bro’s friends went to the kopitiam and saw him resting.

He sat next to him for about an hour, then bought his meal and went home.

As for why he didn’t call out to him, the friend said he thought Dog Bro was resting and didn’t want to disturb him.

Needless to say, he got the shock of his life to find out later that his friend had died.

At about 5.30pm, a kopitiam assistant tried to rouse Dog Bro as he had been sitting there for several hours.

She then saw that he was pale and called for an ambulance.

Paramedics arrived at 5.37pm and pronounced him dead.

Police are investigating the incident.
