A 70-year-old cyclist suffered fractures to his skull and hands, a swollen eye and a blood clot in his brain, after he was hit by a car while riding across a zebra crossing.
The incident took place at about 10pm on Thursday (24 May), at the zebra crossing near Bukit Panjang Plaza.
Said the cyclist’s daughter, Wang Cai Xia:
“My father was riding across a zebra crossing. A white car that was making a right turn refused to give way and crashed into the rear wheel of his bicycle, causing him to fall. The driver didn’t stop and simply drove off.”
Ms Wang said that fortunately there were other pedestrians around at the time and they stopped to help.
One of them called for an ambulance and informed family members about the elderly Wang’s accident.
Due to his age, Mr Wang needs further medical checks to determine if he is fit to undergo surgery
Police are investigating the incident.
