Singapore football fans have been scratching their heads as to why Lions defender Irfan Fandi would post an Instagram Story during the match where the team lost 5-0 to South Korea.
Many have called it disrespectful to the national team, especially since this was a World Cup qualifier and not some random friendly match.
Irfan had been substituted at half time, after appearing to limp off with an injury.
His Instagram post appeared at roughly the 70th minute of the game.
At the time, South Korea were 4 goals up.
Despite the heavy defeat, Singapore head coach Takayuki Nishigaya said that he was pleased with the Lions.
“Our players performed well, we showed 100 per cent of what we can do … I’m proud of my players.”
