An air-con unit that fell from the 2nd floor of a factorybuilding in Bedok hit a foreign worker who happened to be walking by on Tuesday (27 Jun).
41-year-old Myanmar native Mr Tun Win, a supervisor at All Link Engineering, said he the incident happened very suddenly and he didn’t hear or see it coming.
“After I was hit, my mind was a blank and I knew only that I was hit by something very heavy and my head and neck hurt very badly. I fainted and woke up in the hospital.”
Tun Win was sent to hospital for treatment and is now waiting for the results of his MRI scan.
The incident took place at about 5.40pm, at Eastlink Light Industrial Factory, an industrial estate administrated by the Housing Board (HDB).
The air-con unit belonged to a company which has an office on the second floor of the building.
The company manager, a Mr Huang, said:
“The company’s two air-con units were blocked a week ago, and after they were inspected we were advised to change to new ones. Unfortunately when they were installing it, an accident occurred. We will cooperate with the police and the Ministry of Manpower in investigations, and if there is any negligence on our part, we will bear the responsibility.”
