The government’s Chief of Communications, Janadas Devan, has accused Dr Lee Wei Ling of publishing misleading information about him.

This comes after Dr Lee leaked an email sent to her by Mr Janadas in 2011 stating that her father Lee Kuan Yew was in “good form” when he demanded the demolition of his 38 Oxley Road house.

He also said that “It is obvious that this is what he wants” and that “it will be a small minded people that denies him this personal wish”.

Mr Janadas was an editor with the Straits Times when he wrote that email.

Firing back at Dr Lee for her email leak, Mr Janadas said her post bears “tabloid-style, misleading information” and that it wasn’t written in her style.

Mr Janadas added that when he met LKY in 2011, LKY had “made plain that he wanted the house to be demolished. But as the months and years passed, the nature of the project changed as it became less definitive whether the house would be demolished.”

He said that there was “no doubt then or now that Mr Lee’s preference was to demolish the house. But as the shifting instructions we heard from the family in 2011-12 – including from you – indicated, the fate of the house had by no means been decided at that point.”

This is the latest development in the Lee family feud that has gripped Singapore since 14 June.

Then, Lee Hsien Yang and Dr Lee accused Big Bro PM Lee Hsien Loong of abusing his power and allowing his wife Ho Ching to wield undue influence over the civil service, in an attempt to block the demolition of 38 Oxley Road.

PM Lee has denied the allegations.
