The Land Transport Authority has implemented a Priority Queue programme in an attempt to encourage commuters to be more gracious.
The scheme is currently in its trial phase, and has been launched at 6 MRT stations – Novena (North-South Line), Outram Park (East-West Line and North East Line), Chinatown (North East Line), Sengkang (North East Line) and Kent Ridge (Circle Line).
Commuters are encouraged to give way to others such as the elderly, pregnant women and parents travelling with strollers.
Public feedback will be gathered across the next 2 months and based on the feedback received, the LTA may modify the design of the Priority Queue before calling a tender to install Priority Queues at all MRT and LRT stations.
