38-year-old Land Transport Authority security auditor Soffiyan Hamzah performed oral sex on 10 boys, all of whom were minors below 18 years old.
He paid them S$100 each, and performed the sex acts in public toilets.
Most of those sex acts were done at a toilet in JCube shopping mall in Jurong.
Soffiyan also sexual encounters with 5 other underage boys, but he did not pay them.
He has been jailed for 15 years, after pleading guilty to 8 counts of sexual penetration involving minors below 16.
Seven other similar counts and 68 others of commercial sex with boys below 18 of age were taken into consideration during sentencing.
Four counts of sexual grooming and 3 charges under the Films Act, including being in possession of 453 obscene films, were also taken into consideration.
Soffiyan was known to his victims as “Dee” or “Dee Dee” – none of them knew his real name.
He state in his Facebook profile that he was gay, and would perform oral sex on anyone.
He also stated that he would pay, and some of his victims were given S$100 each after every encounter.
Soffiyan got to know some of the boys through his victims, and would usually arrange to meet the boys near MRT stations for what he would describe as his “work”.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Gail Wong said:
“On some occasions, the accused would meet more than one boy in the same session, who would wait in different cubicles for him.”
In January last year, one of his victims, then aged 16 even introduced his 15-year-old younger to Soffiyan.
Soffiyan was caught after the boy told his teacher about the encounters, and the teacher called the police.
Soffiyan was arrested in March.
For each count of sexual penetration involving a minor, he could have been jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
