A man who apparently burgled his friend’s house suffered a heart attack and plunged to his death while trying to escape from the kitchen window of the 8th floor HDB flat unit.
The incident took place last Friday (9 Nov) at about 6am a HDB block at Yishun St 51.
The Friendly Bandit broke is believed to have stolen about S$7000 worth of items, including a gold chain, amulet and handphone before he met his untimely demise.
35-year-old Mr Lim said that his friend was a 25-year-old private university student who recently got a job in the area.
Lim said that the Friendly Bandit got to know his family, and would visit his home 4-5 times a month and play with his children.
He began to grow suspicious when he noticed money missing after visits from the Friendly Bandit, and thereafter began to distance himself from him.
The night before the incident, the Friendly Bandit went to Lim’s home bringing several bottles of wine as a gift.
He then sent Lim a text at about 3am the following day to check if Lim had drunk the wine.
Hours later, the Friendly Bandit was found dead at the foot of the block in what looks to be housebreaking gone awry.
Police are investigating the incident.
