33-year-old assistant Lim Chee Keong has been jailed for 5 years for sex with a minor.
Lim, who is appealing his sentence, got to know a 15-year-old girl back in Nov 2016 on a website where men paid for sex.
On the site, the girl said she was looking for “someone who could afford to pay for my tuition fees”.
Lim and the girl chatted on WeChat and WhatsApp, and the girl agreed to sex with Lim after he promised to pay an allowance of S$4000 to S$5000 a month for a year.
Lim didn’t intend to keep his promise – he planned to run road once he had had his fun.
The pair first met at 2am on 31st Dec 2016 at a staircase landing near Lim’s home.
There, Lim asked her to get “high” by sniffing a brown bottle containing a liquid substance before having sex with her.
They met again on 21 Jan 2017 at a hotel, where Lim gave her alcoholic beverages to drink before having BDSM sex with her.
The girl asked Lim to use a condom during the three times they had sex, but he did not.
The impact on the victim was severe enough for the girl’s teacher to notice a change in her behaviour, and she was advised to go for counselling.
It was during counselling sessions that the girl revealed that she had had unprotected sex with Lim and his crime was exposed.
In court, Lim was accused of making the girl endure “multiple painful and humiliating BDSM practices” as well as inhale harmful substances.
The prosecutor said that there is a need to protect minors from sexual predators like the accused, and consent should not be a mitigating factor.
Lim was jailed for 5 years after being convicted of 3 charges of sexual assault by penetration, and 1 charge of possessing 197 obscene films.
