A problem with a concealed pipe has caused ponding in this Punggol flat for over half a year now!
According to 28-year-old resident Ms Lan, dirty water leaks from the wall in her master bedroom and causes the whole floor to be wet.
She has to wipe the floor several times a day, and the amount of water collected can fill 2 big pails of water.
The water leak has also spoilt the cupboard and flooring of her master bedroom.
Ms Lan said that she moved into the flat at Block 305A Punggol Road with her husband in 2017.
One day in June 2018, she discovered that the whole floor of her master bedroom was wet.
She informed the HDB and town council, and checks revealed that a concealed pipe in the wall of her master bedroom was leaking.
The pipe serves as a transport for rainwater.
In November 2018, the authorities installed an external pipe which routes the water to the bathroom of her master bedroom.
Said Ms Lan:
“After that pipe was installed, less water flowed onto the floor. But now theirs is this along the wall which is an eyesore. There must be a better way to fix the problem.”
She added that the problem of the leak was not full resolved despite the new external pipe, saying that water would still spurt out from the wall.
Ms Lan, together with her husband and daughter, now sleep in the common room.
She hopes that the authorities will fix the whole leak issue, and not just install a pipe and call it a day.
“My wooden flooring has rotted away because of the water leaking after so many months, and the wall paint has peeled off. How to stay in the room like that?”
