PUB Pipe Bursts, Flooding Family’s New Yishun Home

They were about to celebrate moving into their newly-renovated HDB flat, but a broken PUB pipe rained on their parade.

One 52-year-old taxi driver said that two days before the big move, they discovered that their ground floor flat at Block 401 Yishun Avenue 6 was flooded.

This, after spending about S$100,000 renovating and furnishing the 4-room flat.

The cabby was tidying up the flat with his wife yesterday (1 May) when she heard the sound of gushing water.

She looked out the window and saw that a pipe had burst.

Seconds later, murky water muddy water was gushing out of from the kitchen and toilets.

The couple informed the town council and PUB personnel arrived around 2 hours later to cut off the water supply and perform repair works.

Even after water was drained from the flat, his furniture was soaked and the home covered in mud.

Nee Soon Town Council says has extended assistance to the family.

So far, cleaners have helped the couple move the furniture out of the flat and clean the unit, and provide temporary accommodation.
