Durians falling on people’s heads are pretty rare incidences, so one woman who encountered this might want to consider buying Toto.
Ruby Quijano was hiking with a group of friends in Pulau Ubin when one woman in the group was struck on the head by the thorny fruit.
The woman keeled over after being hit and bled from the head due to the scratches from the durian spikes.
But she was lucky to escape any serious injury as she was wearing a hat at the time.
National Parks staff subsequently came to the woman’s aid.
So while hiking in Pulau Ubin, it might be wise to do as aunties do even on a sunny day – carry an umbrella!
