Feeling rich? How about paying S$9.10 for a plate of economic rice that comes with 1 slice of fish, 1 fish cake and 3 fish balls?
That’s what happened to one lady who dined at the Parkway Parade Food Republic on Sun (21 May).
Naturally, she wasn’t very happy about the price and asked the economic rice stall server eh how come so expensive ah.
That’s when, she said, the staff told her that the “fish cake is considered meat so they must charge S$2 for it”.
The angry lady diner wants to highlight just how “ridiculous” some economic rice stalls can price their food.
Fish balls and fish cakes are made from a mixture of minced fish meat, starch, and water, and the Singapore Food Authority stipulates that they must contain at least 40 percent fish meat.
