A car thief brought a bitter end to 2018 for this Singaporean abang.
While shopping at Aeon Bukit Indah in Johor Bahru on New Year’s Eve, his car was stolen together with groceries and clothes still in the boot.
Rudy Dil parked his grey Toyota Wish at the shopping mall at about 1pm and realised it was missing at about 6.30pm.
Car Plate Number: SJJ 9285P
Model: Toyota Wish Aero Tourer in Grey/Silver
Rudy said he still had his parking ticket with him, but was told by someone at the mall that the gantry barrier at the exit was up.
He has lodged police reports over the car theft in Singapore and Malaysia.
Finding the culprit has proven tough.
According to Rudy, Malaysian police said that the shopping mall’s CCTV cameras were not working and that traffic cameras around the Bukit Indah area were also not functioning.
He has warned Singaporeans travelling to JB to buy travel insurance.
“Please buy travel insurance next time you decide to drive across the causeway. Even if it’s just a few hours makan session or a one-night staycation. We got complacent and didn’t get any travel insurance cos we never thought it could happen to us, but it did.”
