With the announcment by Starhub, Singapore’s second largest telecommunications company, that it will charge for 4G data plans, Singtel and M1 users of the same service could also face a hike in their monthly fees.
StarHub will start charging its 4G users for the service from June this year.
Users will pay $2.14 a month, which is a promotional rate. Starhub hasn’t said when they will charge users the full price of $10.70 a month.
Currently, Singtel and M1 do not charge for their 4G internet service.
But the three telcos have a history of raising fees in tandem.
Last year, Singtel, Starhub and M1 all raised charges for excess local data usage.
