The Vietnamese masseuse who plunged to her death at the Silverscape condominium in Geylang was allegedly pushed off the 8th floor by her Singaporean husband.
A close friend of the masseuse, Li, said at that she was earning up to S$1000 a night working at a massage parlour in Orchard Towers from 11pm till the next morning.
After working for a year, the 31-year-old had earned enough money to rent her own store in Orchard Towers and start her own massage parlour.
The friend mentioned that Li wanted to divorce her husband, 42-year-old Zhang Tian Yao because they had stopped loving each other, and he would beat her sometimes when they argue, resulting in scars on her body.
On Saturday (1 May) at about 12pm, a quarrel over the separation allegedly led to Zhang pushing her to her death.
Zhang, who was wearing a red shirt that day, subsequently killing himself by jumping off the building despite attempts by SCDF and police officers to save his life.
The couple had been married for 10 years, and they leave behind their 8-year-old and 3-year-old children.
