He took his 15-year-old girlfriend on an illegal joyride and his subsequent crash caused the death of a mother of two.
Now, the 17-year-old teenage boy appears to have engaged in other activities that are illegal for his age.
Pictures have surfaced which show the teenager (who would have turned 18 on 30 May this year) smoking, consuming alcohol in bars and clubs.
It’s unlawful for youth under the age of 18 to smoke or drink alcohol.
The teenager, who goes by the last name “Ong”, is also suspected of fraudulently renting the car which resulted in the fatal crash on Saturday (21 May).
He has been accused of using another person’s driving licence to loan the car from a car rental company.
His own identity card wouldn’t have worked because he was not of legal driving age at the time.
The teenager’s girlfriend says that contrary to some reports, he didn’t flee the scene after the accident.
She said that she felt unwell after the accident and that he wanted to accompany her home since someone had already called for an ambulance.
The girlfriend says the teenager even got of the car and asked the victim, Mdm Lau Lee Kiau, whether she was okay and she had nodded in acknowledgement.
The teenager is now out on bail as police continue their investigations.
Mdm Lau, a single mother to a 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter, died in hospital from her injuries.
