A horror accident along the AYE today at around 8am.
A silver Mercedes Benz driving against the direction of traffic in the extreme right lane caused an accident which killed one person and sent another 4 people to hospital for their injuries.
Another 4 cars, a bus and a motorcycle were involved in the accident.
The Mercedes only came to a stop after it smashed into the wall of the expressway.
One eyewitness said the driver of the Mercedes seemed out of sorts and was mumbling to himself, and that his son was with him in the front passenger seat.
A 53-year-old male car driver has been arrested for causing death by rash act and police are investigating the incident.
