VIDEO: Car Speeds Up and Smashes into Cyclist Riding on Extreme Right Lane

This video shows the horrifying moment a cyclist who was riding in the extreme right lane was hit in the back by a white sedan car.

The car can be seen speeding up in the extreme right lane as it overtook other vehicles, before it hit the cyclist.

The impact sent the cyclist flying, then collapsing in front of the car.

Fortunately for him, the car braked in time to avoid running over him.

The video, shared by Desmond Goh, has drawn a mixed bag of responses.

Some have criticised the cyclist for cycling in the extreme right lane as its meant for over-taking – meaning that cars in that lane would be driving faster than vehicles in the other lanes.

Others though have condemned the driver for “not opening his eyes” when on the road, saying he could very well have crashed into a motorcylist given the way he was driving.

The Land Transport Authority, in an advisory to cyclists, has said that when cycling on the road, they should cycle close to the left side of the road so as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed.
