The 17-year-old who was arrested following a fatal accident on Saturday morning (21 May) was driving a rental car with his 15-year-old girlfriend when he crashed.
This video was taken by a driver who happened to be passing by at the time.
Divorced single-mother, 46-year-old Lau lee Kiau was riding pillion on her boyfriend’s motorcycle at about 7.56am when the accident took place.
The underage driver appeared to have driven against the flow of traffic and crashed into the motorcycle that Lau was on, and another taxi.
The accident took place along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 in the direction of Upper Thomson Rd.
Lau, her boyfriend and two others were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The others escaped with injuries but Lau didn’t make it.
The divorcee left behind two children aged 17 and 13.
Police arrested the underage driver that same day and charged him with causing death by rash act.
The case is being investigated.
