Drunk as a skunk and looking for trouble, one 24-year-old vodka hero took the last train home and in the course of that hammered a station manager.
Meenachisuntharam Pandiselvam was in a train carriage at Punggol MRT station at about 12.15am and making himself quite comfortable.
A 55-year-old assistant station manager asked him to leave as the train was going to return to the depot.
Pandiselvam, who had drunk two bottles of vodka prior to this, refused get off the train.
The assistant station manager than pulled him out of the train and left him at the train platform together with his belongings.
While helping Pandiselvam up, the angry drunk started throwing his things around.
The assistant station manager told him that the police would be called in if he refused to leave.
That got Pandiselvam even more furious.
He chased the assistant station manager into the train carriage and the two got into a scuffle.
He smashed the assistant station manager against the train door several times before another station employee separated them.
Pandiselvam then stripped to his underwear and took a seat in the train carriage.
The assistant station manager was sent to hospital and found to have suffered a concussion and abrasions on his jaw and elbow.
The incident took place on 16 Jan this year.
Yesterday, Pandiselvam was sentenced to 4 weeks jail after being convicted of voluntarily causing hurt.
He was also fined S$800 for his conduct while drunk.
