Malware installed in users’ computers could have also allowed users’ keystrokes to be seen, according to Communications and Information Minister, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim.
Speaking in parliament, Dr Yaacob said the hacking of SingPass could be because users had very simple passwords.
He said there is no vulnerability in the SingPass system.
Dr Yaacob said the Communications and Information ministry will work with the Finance Ministry and the Infocomm Development Authority to further enhance security measures.
One of those measures include introducing second-factor authentication for e-services involving sensitive data or transactions.
