ComfortDelGro Taxi Driver Who Broke a Man’s Skull Allowed to Continue Driving, Runs Over 11-Year-Old Boy

In July 2020, ComfortDelGro taxi driver Toh Poh Heng crashed into a 64-year-old man who was crossing the road, while making a left turn towards Bedok North Road.

The victim suffered skull fractures in addition to other injuries, and was hospitalised for 17 days.

Just about a year later, in August 2021, Toh struck again, crashing his taxi into an 11-year-old boy while making a left turn into Geylang East Central.

The boy was relatively luckier than Toh’s previous victim – he suffered abrasions on his elbow, knee and wrist.

When this incident took place, Toh was still being investigated for the 2020 crash.

Which is why questions have been raised as to how ComfortDelGro allowed Toh to continue driving for the company when he was under investigation for driving without exercising due care

Online, some netizens have also called on the victims to sue the taxi company for gross negligence.

Many have said that the hurt caused to the second victim could have been avoided if Toh had been suspended by the company until investigations were concluded.

Toh, now 62 years old, has pleaded guilty to two charges relating to both incidents and has been jailed for eight weeks.

He has also been was disqualified from holding or obtaining all classes of driving licences for five years upon his release.
