A 45-year-old taxi driver was the victim of a surprise attack by a drunk passenger on Friday (10 Feb).
The taxi driver, Mr Huang, had picked up two women from Cuppage Plaza along Orchard Road at around 5am.
The two, who appeared to be intoxicated, were quarrelling just before boarding the taxi.
Midway through the ride to their destination in Toa Payoh, one of the woman shouted at her friend, then reached out from the backseat and grabbed Mr Huang’s head.
He said he felt a piercing pain and immediately stopped the car.
The two women then alighted from the taxi, although his attacker wanted to continue her assault on him.
When police arrived, the aggressive woman was lying by the side of the road, apparently drunk.
Mr Huang said he was offered S$50 to “forget” the incident by the more sober woman, but he declined the money.
He was given three days of medical leave by ComfortDelGro, and said that he intends to seek compensation from the woman who attacked him.
