A tissue seller was sitting on the ground counting his takings for the day near an Old Chang Kee outlet at Bukit Batok MRT station when he was ordered to leave by SMRT staff.
Apparently, a complaint was lodged against him, by someone who wasn’t too pleased with the amount he had received.
The person who lodged the complaint even took to social media and online gossip portals like Stomp to boast about his exploits.
In a video he recorded, the man can be heard confronting the tissue seller, saying:
“Selling tissue paper can make $300 a day, you know. No joke.”
He added:
“I think I also want to be a tissue paper seller. Just sitting down, people walking past give S$2, S$3, S$10 because a lot of people pity this old man.”
Later on, the man says that he is the one who lodged the complaint.
According to the Rapid Transit Systems regulations, it is illegal to sell things on the railway premises without a valid licence.
