The NTUC-run Kopitiam has apologised for unhygienic management of trash by a cleaner.
In March, a cleaner was seen pushing a waste bin next to food stalls, picking up bags of waste and tossing them in the bin.
All this, next to food being prepared at stalls and diners eating at nearby tables.
The incident took place at Kopitiam Square in Sengkang.
Complaints were raised regarding the incident.
In response, NTUC has issued a statement saying:
“We recognise the concerns raised with regards to the cleaner pushing the trash bin through the dining area where customers were having their meals. This should not be the case and we are sorry for the disturbance caused.”
NTUC said that it has addressed the matter with the contracted cleaning vendor and emphasised the importance of adhering to the correct protocol for trash collection.
